Gokyo is an amazing small village located in Solokhumbu District just in Himalayas of Nepal. It is exactly situated at the foot of Gokyo Ri and it is on the east of Gokyo Cho shore.The village consist of numerous huts and it covers 4,750 metres. Gokyo village is known whole over the world for its large number of settlement though the huts are not permanent building but just temporary shelters for hikers. This is an amazing place to be since the village is located on a nice natural view. There is Sagarmatha National Park for those who love nature walk and Gokyo lakes that is widely known to be the world’s highest freshwater lakes system that consist of six main lakes, Lake Thonak is the largest of all. This village is not only a hiking site but also an historical site since the Lakes has some religious significance because both Hindus and Buddhists considered the Lakes as sacred, they usually take holy bath during Janai Purnima festival that is occasionally held in August.

When you visit Gokyo village as a tourist there is no fear for accommodation since there is Sagarmatha base camp it is just a two days walk uphill from Namche Bazaar. There is a lot to do around the valley; a short day hike up to the Everest View Hotel in Shyangboche for a great view of Ama Dablam . Tourist has fun at Gokyo village and spends memorable moments on mountaineering, hill climbing, trekking and photo taking of amazing spectacular site of the mountains and lakes. Trekking around Gokyo valley is considered as a traditional trek known worldwide and it is seasonal and it is done for an average time of 4 hours .The area is associated with the soaring views of the world most popular mountains. One of the most amazing and wonderful features is the view of the tremendous ice ridge that is located between Cho Oyu and Gyachung in Khumbu region. Looking East from Gokyo summit, the tip of Mount Everest can be visible .In between the mountains there are friendly people who stay there in villages. When trekking along you will pass Buddhist monasteries with view of Everest and other wonderful snow towering mountains. This is a great place for adventure with fantastic views and good elevation for any hiker. It is advisable for any hiker who wishes to visit Gokyo should accompany his visit with heavy cloths for the sake of keeping warm during the night especially during march there is lots of snow below freezing at night.


A part from amazing mountains Gokyo is also natural covered by pine forest, rhododendron,magnolla and cultivated terraces not forgetting the thundering glacial river. It is a beautiful and easy trek through pine and rhododendron forest not forgetting the view of Kusum Kanguru and other splendid mountains of Gokyo.In Kathmandu valley of Gokyo there are several interesting sites to pay a visit like the Old Palaces at Patan,Durbar square and Bhaktapur or you can trek down town Thamel for some shopping and to enjoy meals in luxurious restaurants in Kathmandu.
